HPC - Watch Manager
We are now recruiting for Watch Manager to join our growing Hinkley Point C Fire and Rescue Service (HPC FRS) to lead, support and develop the watch based teams, providing leadership and fostering positive working relationships across the construction site with other organisations, to improve the delivery of our services and bring real benefits to the project. The role will have a key focus on training, performance management and continual improvement.
Alongside the day to day operational management of the team, this role has a key focus on people management and training. As an exceptional leader, you will ensure that appropriate training is in place, staff are supported with their personal development, welfare support is provided and the promotion of healthy and safe working practices, including fitness standards monitoring.
A key part of this role is to respond to incidents as they arise and there will be a requirement to act as Incident Commander, taking any key learnings during debriefs to support all HPC FRS staff for future responses.
This is an exciting role for the right person and an opportunity to work on the largest construction project in Europe.

The successful candidate will have operational knowledge and experience of interpreting and providing guidance on workplace policy. You will have the ability to work both as a member of a team and under your own initiative.
An effective communicator able to provide clear instruction and present to teams is essential, along with having good understanding of team management and development with the ability to lead, set targets and manage individual and team performance. A background that includes specialist rescue activities that involve working at height and/or in confined spaces would be desirable.
It is essential that you meet and maintain the required fitness standards to ensure the role is carried out effectively keeping all team members safe.
Experience of dealing with risk mitigation, and a good working knowledge of initiatives designed to prevent emergencies and accidents from occurring is essential. Experience of working within an industrial, aviation or local authority fire service is essential, as is previous experience within a managerial role. Previous experience as an instructor within a fire and rescue discipline would also be desirable.
