The Water and Flood Team Leader (WFTL) course is designed for experienced water rescue personnel who are expected to command teams during water and flood incidents. It focuses on developing leadership, decision-making, and operational planning skills necessary for effective team management in dynamic water environments.

Course Objectives:

4. Establish and maintain site control during water and flood incidents
5. Address medical and decontamination needs of team members and casualties
6. Plan and execute operations in night or low-visibility conditions
7. Manage search operations in river and flood environments
8. Coordinate rescues involving vehicles in water
9. Develop and implement pre-planning measures for water incidents
10. Ensure team welfare and manage resources effectively
11. Interpret and utilise weather and flood warning information
12. Understand team typing and coordinate deployment of national assets
13. Lead practical exercises to reinforce team leadership skills
