He served in operations, training and Fire Safety before promotion to Area Manager in 2009. As an Area Manager he served as an Area Commander, Head of Organisational Safety and as Head of Operational Delivery leading frontline operations, fire protection and community safety teams. Steve spent a number of years as a DEFRA Strategic Flood Rescue Advisor. In 2017, Steve retired from his uniformed role to take up the position of Head of Training & Development for DFSRS, working in a job share capacity with Steve Widnell, with responsibility for ensuring delivery of all the operational training and development to 1,800 operational firefighters across Devon & Somerset. Steve joined Red One as Co-CEO in 2021.
